Key Stage 3 into 4 Progression
During the Spring Term, our Year 9 students begin the exciting process of planning their progression into Key Stage 4. This is an important stage in their school journey, as students start to think about the subjects they will study in Years 10 and 11 as they work towards their GCSE and Level 2 qualifications.
At King Solomon High School, all students continue to study a strong core curriculum including English Language, English Literature, Mathematics and Science, alongside non-examined Core Physical Education and PSHE. In addition to these subjects, students will choose a number of further courses through our structured options process, allowing them to explore their interests and strengths while keeping future opportunities open.
Our curriculum is designed to ensure that every student follows a broad, balanced and ambitious programme of study. Students are guided through one of three curriculum routes, helping them to select subjects that will allow them to thrive academically while also developing their wider skills and interests. Alongside traditional academic subjects, we also offer creative and vocational courses so that students can follow a pathway that best suits them.
To support students and families through this process, we will be holding a Year 9 Key Stage 3 into 4 Parents’ Information Evening on Tuesday 12th March, where we will explain the options process and answer any questions.
The deadline for submitting subject preferences will be Tuesday 14th April 2026.
