Today we held our annual holocaust seminar for our Year 12 students and were delighted to be joined by Oaks Park, Ilford County High and Woodford County High. We heard from Hephzi, the daughter of holocaust survivor, Lady Zahava Kohn who sadly passed away in 2022. She shared her mother’s story and how she survived Bergen Belsen. We saw artefacts that Lady Zahava’s mother took out of camp with her including the bowl they ate their food from and a jug they used for the toilet. Her story is an incredible one and you could hear a pin drop in the room. At the end of the talk, incredible questions were asked by the audience and they worked on their tables having group discussions. Finally, we unveiled a plaque dedicated to Lady Zahava.
