Autumn Term Mock Examinations:
All Year 11 and Year 13 students will be completing a set of mock examinations during the Autumn Term. These will take place between Monday 18th and Friday 29th November 2024.
Please see below the timetables for these mock examinations:

Practical examinations and Spanish Oral examinations sit outside of the two week ‘Mock Season’. Details of these examinations will be shared with students via their subject teachers.
Students and their parents / carers will then receive a report detailing their attainment in their mock examinations on 19th December 2024.
At King Solomon High School, the purpose of our mock examinations is to:
- give students an opportunity to experience a set of examinations that are run in-line with JCQ regulations – this will help students to develop their exam skills and feel better prepared for the demands of the summer examinations.
- raise the expectations for students to begin ‘revising’ early in the academic year so that students are less reliant on a last minute ‘cramming’ approach to examinations.
- give subject teachers a body of work to assess, that will allow them to clearly identify how well students are able to recall knowledge and apply the skills learnt in lessons to their examinations. This will then inform subject teachers and HODs about where there are gaps in students’ knowledge and skills so that the curriculum subject content can be revisited in the Spring and Summer Term and appropriate intervention can be introduced early.
Wherever possible, mock examinations will be run as if they are real examinations and students are required to meet the strict standards set by JCQ:
Full details about the JCQ’s expectations for written examinations can be accessed here: https://www.jcq.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/IFC-Written_Examinations_2024_FINAL.pdf
During our mock examination series, students will sit up to two examinations per-day at the following times:
- Session 1 Examinations: begin at 8.50am
- Session 2 Examinations: begin at 11.45am
Students will be given time to have a break at the end of their examinations. During the mock examination season, all students are expected to attend school as normal. When students are not sitting examinations, they will be required to attend their normal timetabled lessons.
Some students may have been assessed for Access Arrangements for summer examinations and where these access arrangements have been approved, they will be in place for all mock examinations. Should you have any questions about the access arrangements, please contact the school’s SEND team via email at:
Should students or their parents / carers have any questions about the mock examinations they should either contact the Head of Year, the relevant subject teacher or the exams office ().
