Headteacher’s welcome
Welcome to King Solomon High School.
We are proud to be a modern Orthodox Jewish secondary school in the London Borough of Redbridge. I am delighted to be the newly appointed Headteacher (since September 2023) of this wonderful and unique secondary school.
Judaism permeates every aspect of school life. Our values of learning (Torah), charity (avodah) and community (gemilut hasadim) are at the core of school life. As a Jewish school, students are taught about the special and important role that the holy land of Israel has in Jewish history and in the lives of the Jewish community and other communities. All students study Jewish studies throughout their seven years at the school, alongside the comparative study of Islam and Christianity. We are also a unique Jewish school in that our student intake represents the local multifaith and multiethnic community in Redbridge. This makes King Solomon High School a shining example of community cohesion and interfaith relations.
As the new headteacher, my vision for the school is that ‘we provide students with a world class educational experience and that we are an example of best practice to other schools’. This means that all staff and students are encouraged to be the very best versions of themselves. We are a school that inspires ambition, excellence and high standards in a safe and nurturing environment.
We are an academically successful school and pride ourselves in providing students with a broad curriculum and strong teaching. For the last two years our GCSE exam results have been above national standards and this year our progress 8 score is 0.31. This means that students who attend King Solomon High School will on average achieve better results than students with similar starting points in other schools. Our curriculum is dedicated to teaching students powerful knowledge in each subject through engaging lessons.
High standards of student behaviour, with clear rules and systems, are at the heart of life at King Solomon High School. We are committed to creating an environment where exemplary behaviour is at the heart of school life, so that all students can achieve their full potential. Good behaviour creates a calm and safe school where students can learn, feel safe and thrive. We care about the details such as politeness, uniform, equipment and punctuality because we believe that this sets high standards.
The wellbeing and safety of our students is the number one priority. We have a dedicated and experienced safeguarding and pastoral team who provide a range of support services to students. We are committed to developing students to be well rounded citizens who will make a positive contribution to their community and we offer a wide range of extracurricular opportunities for students to participate in.
When students join us in year 7 we set out their seven year journey at KingSolomon High School, which ends in year 13. We are proud of our thriving sixth form, which has its own dedicated sixth form centre and is led by a fantastic team of staff. Our sixth form achieves excellent results and our year 13 students progress to a variety of top universities and apprenticeships.
We are an inclusive school that educates students and marks a variety of national and international events that reflect British Values; such as Black History Month, Holocaust Memorial Day, Refugee Week, LGBTQ+ History Month, and International Women Day, just to name a few.
I look forward to working with all stakeholders in this exciting new journey to continued improvement and success for King Solomon High School.
