Art and Digital Photography
We intend for Art and Digital Photography to be opportunities where students learn how to open up their senses to the wonders of the world in all its endless variety and differences. Through a carefully structured plan of activities using a range of resources and materials, students are encouraged to gain confidence in their technical skills and their ability to interpret the world around them. Celebrating ethnic diversity is a key aspect of how we present many of our topics and helps to celebrate the differences within our community.
All of the work that we do, enables students to build on any prior knowledge of the subject, whether that is relatively basic or more advanced. Art and artefacts from ancient to the modern era are introduced as source material and used to support practical and contextual development in the classroom. We also try to nurture an environment of cross-curricular empathy, enabling our students to take a full and positive role in modern society and engendering a sense of pride in who a student is and what they can become. Displaying work throughout the school is an integral vehicle to convey our visions and intentions.
