Ivrit
King Solomon is a United Synagogue, Orthodox Jewish school, embedded in those values is an understanding of the Jewish connection to ‘Eretz Yisrael’, the land of Israel and ‘Medinat Yisrael’, the Modern State of Israel. To this end, Ivrit links to both Modern Languages and Jewish studies, offering a non-European language whilst understanding the connection between Israel and the Jewish people. Focused on one lesson per week in Year Seven and Eight, the curriculum focuses on conversational skills. Students with prior knowledge also build on reading and writing skills. Learning about Israeli life and culture enhances knowledge and promotes understanding and mutual respect among the diverse student community.
A core aim is to encourage enthusiasm for the Year Nine and Ten Israel trip and to equip them with foundational language enabling them to converse while on the trip.
