Sociology
Our Sociology curriculum has been designed to acquire knowledge and critical understanding of the contemporary social processes and social change. It is designed to Inspire pupils to participate in our interconnected world with understanding and humanity.
The sociology curriculum is sequenced logically with the help of the prior knowledge learned in KS3. Pupils will gain a holistic and critical understanding of Sociology through the use of a variety of teaching strategies that promote independent, pupil-led learning and active learning, such as well-structured debates and discussions, as well as practical activities to deepen students’ understanding and enjoyment while building core skills.
To give our pupils a cultural and collaborative opportunities the department organises extra co-curricular activities like the Debate and Detective club and some field trips to enhance their confidence and independence.
