Key Stage 3 into 4 Progression
During the Spring term, Year 9 students begin the process of planning their progression into Key Stage 4. During this time students will be supported to consider which subjects they will continue to study as they move into Years 10 and 11.
All students study the core subjects of English, Maths, Science and Religious Studies, each of which they will prepare to sit a GCSE in at the end of Year 11. Additionally, our core curriculum includes PE and PSHE, both of which are delivered as non-examined subjects.
Students are also allocated one of two Progress Pathways. These determine which subjects students will continue to study in Key Stage 4.
Progress Pathway 1 | Progress Pathway 2 |
· All students will study Spanish · Students must choose either History OR Geography · Students will choose one ‘preference’ subject · Students will choose one back-up ‘preference’ subject. |

Our Progress Pathways ensure that all students follow a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum which is knowledge rich. As a school, the Ebacc subjects sit at the heart of our curriculum and we believe that our pathways will support students to progress and thrive as they move into further and higher education, apprenticeships or employment.
