Transition Timeline

Making the transition from Year 11 to Post 16 can be difficult with challenging courses and students having to become more independent and manage their workload effectively. We have a transition programme to ensure all our students move successfully from Year 11 to Year 12 and can achieve their goals at Post 16.

  • Assembly regarding sixth form options, sixth form open evening, how to apply and why this sixth form?

  • Sixth Form Open Evening – all students given labelled prospectus and application form.
  • Applications open.
February
  • Sixth Form Applications must be submitted by 8th February each year
  • Sixth Form interviews (internal & external students) – students must bring their application form and mock exam results and they will have a mock admission interview to ensure they understand minimum course requirements and appropriate pathways

  • Sixth Form Taster Day-Our Taster Day involves students being able to select lessons they are interested in so that they are able to try these out before they make their final decision on the courses that they are selecting to study. This day will also give students the opportunity to see first-hand how it feels to be a Sixth Form student. Students will attend school in Business Attire, as per the Sixth Form dress code and use the Sixth Form Centre throughout the day

  • Conditional Offers- All applicants will receive their offer letter in April. These offers will be dependent on prospective students meeting the course requirements with the final decisions being made on GCSE Results day in August

  • GCSE Results Day and King Solomon High School Sixth Form enrolment day.
